Outpatient Laboratory Services

Vital Lab provides routine and STAT laboratory services to Assisted Living (AL), Independent Living (IL), Memory Care (MC), and Long-Term Care (LTC) facilities on a contractual basis.

Our routine laboratory services are of no-charge through our laboratory partnerships. Routine laboratory services include: specimen collection (phlebotomy), specimen processing, and specimen delivery.

Our STAT laboratory and clinical services are billed to the facility. STAT laboratory services include: specimen collection (phlebotomy) and urgent delivery to the laboratory designated by the patients insurance carrier within one hour after collection to ensure prompt result delivery.

Continuity of Care

We understand that most patients do not follow through with outpatient labs ordered by his/her provider. Non-compliancy breaks the chain of care and causes delays in diagnosis and medical treatment. That’s why we commit to consolidating the care process by providing onsite laboratory services.

Collaborative Care

We understand that collaborative care is imperative to positive patient outcomes. That’s why we commit to working directly with providers and local in-network hospital based laboratories to promote positive patient care experiences.

Molecular UTI Testing

Molecular UTI testing with a substantially faster turnaround time than a standard urine culture and sensitivity with Urine-ID.

Clinical Advantages of Urine ID

  • Prevents delays in diagnosis and treatment (*results within 24 to 48 hours post specimen arrival to lab)
  • Detects polymicrobial infections simultaneously
  • Identifies up to 49 antibiotic resistance genes in 12 antibiotic categories including Methicillin, Carbapenem and Vancomycin resistance
  • Markedly less susceptible to being affected by concurrent antibiotic therapy
  • Reduces unnecessary drug exposure and adverse events
  • Decreases the progression and spread of infection
  • Provides up-to-date regional sensitivity and susceptibility patterns
  • Improves selection of narrow-spectrum antibiotics
  • Prepares clinicians to make cost-effective treatment decisions
  • Easily accessible results (mobile, web-portal or EMR integration)

Disadvantages of Standard Culture & Sensitivity

  • Conventional laboratory culture techniques can take 3-7 days to return.
  • May only detect the most common pathogens like E Coli
  • Clinicians often prescribe broad-spectrum antibiotics while awaiting test  which contributes to the growing epidemic of antibiotic resistance.

Rapid Molecular Testing

Rapid molecular testing for Coronavirus, Influenza, RSV, and Streptococcus with isothermal nucleic acid amplification capabilities for the qualitative detection of infectious diseases results in minutes.

Clinical Advantages

  • Significantly faster than other molecular methods
  • More accurate than conventional rapid tests
  • Allows providers to make effective clinical decisions sooner

Turn Around Time

  • COVID-19 positive results as early as 6 minutes, negative results in 12 minutes
  • Add on FLU A&B using the same swab results in 3-10 minutes
  • Strep A with positive results in as little as 2 minutes
  • RSV with results in 13 minutes or less

Electrocardiogram (EKG)

An electrocardiogram, also called an ECG or EKG, is a simple and painless test that measures the electrical impulses of your heart.

*Referral Service

Urinary Catheterization

Intermittent urinary catheterization for the collection of urinary sample for analysis and culture. Suitable for incontinent patients.

*Billed To Facility

Digital X-Ray

Digital X-Ray with direct radiology images are captured, viewed and sent  on location. This also gives Providers the ability to view images bedside right after capture, if desired.

*Referral Service

Diagnostic Ultrasound

Diagnostic ultrasounds use sound waves to make pictures of the body. Ultrasound, also called sonography, shows the structures inside the body. The images can help guide diagnosis and treatment for many diseases and conditions.

Intravenous Support

Our  technicians provide intravenous  support by inserting peripheral IV catheters (PIVCs) using sterile aseptic technique to decrease the risk of infection. PIVCs are commonly used for acute (short term) intravenous medications, fluids, and blood products. Ideal for long-term care facilities and home bound patients.

Our IV Support services include:

  • IV Placement/Insertion
  • Assessment/ Evaluation
  • Becton Dickinson Brand

Coronavirus Antigen, Rapid

Covid-19 nasopharyngeal (nasal) swab specimen identifies the presence of SARS-COV-2.

Streptococcus Aureus (Strep)

Test Includes: Strep A, a throat swab that detects group A streptococcus aureus in minutes.

Influenza A/B (Flu)

Test Includes: Influenza A/B, a nasal swab that detects influenza viruses A/B in minutes.
